Vocational Shoe Making Project 2019
This year we were able to start our first major vocational project. We began making shoes in February and we are excited to have a new teacher, Fortunate, who is focussing on vocational skills. She is teaching beading, sewing and shoemaking with groups throughout the afternoon and early evening. We have raised money to buy some equipment for the shoemaking project including a tailoring and scoring machine. We are training Anton, from the community, to take over from Fortunate in the future. Fortunate is also working with groups on farming skills and she rotates the children so that they are all learning to clear, plant and harvest. We have begun selling some shoes to the community and one of our older children is learning how to collect and record the money and manage the budget.
